A Dynamic and Resilient Economy
Northeastern Wisconsin's economy thrives on a robust blend of
manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism. The region is home to several
major paper mills and manufacturing plants that produce everything from
machinery to consumer goods. The agriculture sector is equally

renowned for its cheese production, and this region contributes
substantially to that reputation. Additionally, the beauty of the
Northwoods and its abundant outdoor activities attract tourists year-round, supporting the local economy through hospitality, retail, and

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan relies heavily on natural resource-based
industries. Forestry and mining have been traditional pillars of the economy, with the region rich in timber, iron ore, and copper. Tourism also plays a critical role, with visitors flocking to the UP for its stunning natural attractions such as Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Isle Royale National Park, and numerous state parks. The combination of outdoor recreation opportunities, including hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling, bolsters the economy. Small-scale manufacturing and service industries complement these primary sectors, providing a diversified economic base for the region.
