Houghton Rotary’s “Sink the Sled” Contest

A vintage snowmobile (sled) was placed on the frozen Houghton Canal in early February as part of the “Sink the Sled” Contest sponsored by the Houghton Rotary Club. Tickets will be sold throughout the rest of winter until April 15th for $5 per guess (or 3 guesses for $10) for the opportunity to predict when the sled will fall through the ice.  (See photos attached)

The winning ticket will be worth $1,000 or 50% of the net sales, whichever is greater. The remaining proceeds will support the Houghton Rotary’s scholarship program and other community activities.

To purchase tickets on-line, view a live webcam and for more information go to SinkTheSled.com. You may also find ticket entry buckets at local establishments or contact a Houghton Rotarian.

Thanks for your support!

Dear Rotary Family and Friends

I just returned from attending a spiritual Christmas celebration with my Granddaughter, and thought I would share some thoughts through the eyes and thoughts of a child. I know many of you will be able to relate because there is nothing like seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child.

Aubree is 7 yrs. old and in many ways angelic herself with questions galore and excitement enough for many of us. She is particularly excited this year to share stories about Cardinals as she lost her Grandfather this year, and, she believes if a Cardinal appears to you it is really a message being sent from Heaven from a passed loved one letting us know all is OK. Aubree believes her Grandfather can send her messages so she is constantly looking for that red Cardinal to appear. Many of the gifts she is giving to her family are from her thoughts about that Cardinal.

LOVE IS INTERNATIONAL - Conference Agenda for Inbound Students

Love is International Weekend January 6, 7, 8, 2017

Traditionally held in January, this event is a weekend filled with fun and is a great opportunity to involve your own family in sharing the International flavor of Rotary. Wausau Early Birds Club and Wausau Rotary Club team up to organize a weekend of fun for the Rotary Youth Exchange students from around our District 6220. Students visit with local foreign language classes at area High Schools on Friday afternoon, have dinner and socialize on Friday night, shop, participate in a scavenger hunt, sledding and tubing on Saturday, and then on Saturday night, Rotary families from both clubs host 2 or more students for dinner and an overnight stay. On Sunday the students head back to their Host Club families. This provides Rotary families great opportunities to experience cultural diversity with international students while sharing camaraderie with fellow Rotary families from both Wausau Rotary Clubs
