A vintage snowmobile (sled) was placed on the frozen Houghton Canal in early February as part of the “Sink the Sled” Contest sponsored by the Houghton Rotary Club. Tickets will be sold throughout the rest of winter until April 15th for $5 per guess (or 3 guesses for $10) for the opportunity to predict when the sled will fall through the ice.  (See photos attached)

The winning ticket will be worth $1,000 or 50% of the net sales, whichever is greater. The remaining proceeds will support the Houghton Rotary’s scholarship program and other community activities.

To purchase tickets on-line, view a live webcam and for more information go to SinkTheSled.com. You may also find ticket entry buckets at local establishments or contact a Houghton Rotarian.

Thanks for your support!

The 2018 Rotary Peace Fellowship application is now available! Our new online application will streamline the submission and review process and help districts manage the increasing number of Rotary Peace Fellowship applications.

Love is International Weekend January 6, 7, 8, 2017

Traditionally held in January, this event is a weekend filled with fun and is a great opportunity to involve your own family in sharing the International flavor of Rotary. Wausau Early Birds Club and Wausau Rotary Club team up to organize a weekend of fun for the Rotary Youth Exchange students from around our District 6220. Students visit with local foreign language classes at area High Schools on Friday afternoon, have dinner and socialize on Friday night, shop, participate in a scavenger hunt, sledding and tubing on Saturday, and then on Saturday night, Rotary families from both clubs host 2 or more students for dinner and an overnight stay. On Sunday the students head back to their Host Club families. This provides Rotary families great opportunities to experience cultural diversity with international students while sharing camaraderie with fellow Rotary families from both Wausau Rotary Clubs

BACKGROUND:

The Fritz Bernegger New London Foundation Distinguished Service Award established in 1987 is a Paul Harris Fellowship in the amount of $1,000.00. Our annual contribution to the Rotary Foundation in Fritz’s name is the New London Rotary’s way of immortalizing the memory of Fritz’s numerous contributions to Rotary International and specifically to the New London Rotary Club. Fritz Bernegger, the founder of Hillshire Farms Company, was a lifelong member of the New London Rotary Club and exemplified the ideals of Rotary as established by Paul Harris.
