What are the criteria for District Governor Award recipients and what forms are we required to submit?

The DG award goes to a club member that deserves recognition but has gone un-noticed thus far.  That person in your club who is always there, always working or always willing to do the onerous task.  There are no specific criteria.  The award is more a recognition of someone who continues to be willing to serve. Simply write a letter of nomination listing the nominee name and reasons for recognition.   Submit this letter to the District Governor at least two weeks prior to the DG's club visit.

To whom and how is attendance to be submitted?

Attendance reports are required monthly but a formal form is not necessary.   The attendance reports are as follows:

  • Club name,
  • month for which you are reporting,
  • # of members,
  • # meeting this month,
  • monthly percentage in attendance.

Please send the reports to Kim Herlache, District Secretary via email at ridistrict@charter.net, by mail 1125 South 19th Place, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235, or by phone or fax 920-743-1344. This report should be submitted no later than 10 days after the end of the month. If you have any questions just ask Kim @ ridistrict6220@charter.net

What are the guidelines for the use of Rotary International’s trademarks (“Rotary Marks”)?
I am one of the staff contacts at Rotary International for questions related to the use of Rotary International’s trademarks (“Rotary Marks”). The protection of RI's widely recognized trademarks is a particular focus of our department.  Our goal is to ensure that the public always associates the Rotary Marks with the humanitarian and volunteer efforts of the Rotary clubs around the world.

We are writing to request your assistance in ensuring that clubs use the "Rotary" name in connection with club or district foundations in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the Rotary International Board of Directors and the Bylaws of Rotary International.  We realize there are many issues that require your time and attention as District Governor for the 2007-2008 Rotary year and, therefore, we appreciate your assistance.

RI appreciates the time and effort clubs and districts expend fundraising for The Rotary Foundation and club and district foundations. Please know RI greatly appreciates the work of your district and the clubs within your district and wishes you continued success in all your Rotary endeavors.

As you may already know, per RI Board guidelines, a Rotary club or group of clubs may use the name “Rotary” in connection with club or district foundation activities, provided it adheres to the following rules:

1. such use relates the activity to the club or clubs concerned and not to RI;

2. the word "international" is not used in connection with or in the name of a club or district foundation activity;

3. the name of the club or district foundation activity begins with the name of the club or the district designation;

4. the words "Rotary" and "foundation," when used in connection with a club or district foundation activity, be separated in the name of the activity;

For your reference this RI policy is set forth in Section 33.020.5 of the Rotary Code of Policies and can be also found in the Manual of Procedure 2007, Chapter 17.

The names we have on record for some of the foundations within your district do not include a separation between the words “Rotary” and “Foundation.” Additionally, some of the foundations include the word “international.” By following RI policy, a club or district foundation will be clearly identified as an activity of the Rotary club or district.

We kindly ask that you forward the information contained in this email to the club leaders and other interested Rotarians within your district. We, also, kindly request that any foundation names not in compliance with RI policy be modified appropriately.

Kind regards,
